HOMAGE
This exhibition by Bronwyn Russell-Colllins pays homage to a favoured artist, Rosalie Gascoigne. It was the works of 1994-1995 that have influenced her most in this series of works. The subtleness of dirty whites, greys and lines of black are what speak to Bronwyn the most. Steel Magnolias, White Gardens and Foreign Affairs are to name a few of Rosalie's works that have inspired this new collection 'HOMAGE'..
'I walk the beach every day with my thoughts, appreciating the beach life and shadows cast on the ripples of sand. Time passes and the shadows move gently across the rivets and bumps that are formed by water, wind and our own footsteps. The debris that is washed up, the grasses that spill down from the dunes, along with the crab life all interplay with my vision which is then 'repurposed' to create a physical expression of this. I not only repurpose the visions in my mind, but also the materials in which I use.
